For the second Monday of the month, we have some big news! The years of rumors of Final Fantasy Tactics being remastered are finally coming true! A new version of the beloved tactical RPG will be releasing September 30, 2025! Plus, Front Mission 3 is being remade for Nintendo Switch, Game Informer is returning as a print magazine, and two previously delisted titles are available again on Steam!

By far, the biggest news this week is the announcement of a remaster for Final Fantasy Tactics, the renowned PS1 tactical RPG that is highly regarded as among the greatest games of that genre, and one of the best ever for the system. It has now been announced for release on Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 1 and 2 on September 30, 2025! The Steam page is here. The official website for the game is located here.

The retail price for the title is set at $49.99. If you’d like to buy the Steam version for 15% off through a voucher at GreenManGaming with the code of JUN15. Through that means, the game can be preordered for $42.49. If you want to do that, here is a link to the GreenManGaming page.

Moving on to actual features, this version of Final Fantasy Tactics has improved graphics with a higher resolution, fully voiced dialog, and refined gameplay. Moreover, there is a more accessible “Squire” difficulty for the game, making it easier for new players. Additionally, the title will be using the War of the Lions translation, which was the one used for the PSP version of the game.

For those who want to play the 1997 version, it is sort of available in this release. The classic mode uses the original version’s graphics and gameplay with the War of the Lions translation from the PSP game.

FRONT MISSION 3: Remake Coming To Nintendo Switch

Along with Final Fantasy Tactics, another classic PS1 strategy RPG is being reborn on modern hardware! This time it’s FRONT MISSION 3: Remake, which is an epic game with two different storylines and tons of world building in and out of battle. Some new features include improved graphics and animations and reorchestrated music. The retail price for the game is $34.99 and is scheduled to release later this month on June 26, 2025.

Although I won’t be holding my breath, if Square Enix wants to keep remastering PS1 classics, I’m all for it! Can we please get Einhänder, Vagrant Story, and Xenogears available on modern systems (without a subscription)? I would be super happy if they did!

Last week gameinformer.com shared that the print magazine is coming back and a special subscription offer is going on now! In an editorial by Matt Miller dated June 6th, key concepts of the magazine were shared. One part reads,

“We want to deliver a premium magazine steeped in exclusive access, entertaining articles, and deep insights into gaming that speak through a range of voices squarely to dedicated gaming hobbyists. We want to extend that philosophy into our website, video, streaming, and podcasting efforts, connecting our audience to a deeper engagement with day-to-day events and reveals and the creators behind the games. And we want Game Informer to reach outside of gaming, and build in a way for every subscriber to make the world a little better.”

The piece goes on to explain how they intend to do the above, and its great to see. For the near future, the digital-only subscription is $32 a year, and the print + digital subscription is $48 a year. The regular prices for these will be $45/year and $70/year, respectively.

OlliOlli World and Rollerdrome Have Returned To Steam

To round out today’s news, I also wanted to share that two titles that there delisted from Steam about four months ago have returned! They are OlliOlli World and Rollerdrome. The former is a skateboarding action platformer with colorful characters, and a distinctive art style. Its retail price is $19.99. If you want to know when it goes on sale, check out the page for it at SteamDB. The second title is Rollerdrome, a third-person action shooter. This one has over 1,300 reviews, 91% of which are positive. The retail price is $29.99 and again, here is the SteamDB page.
