With Cheap Retro Gaming, one thing that’s important to me is being consistent with my posting schedule. That’s the reason why I tend to upload reviews on Thursdays. I want my readers to have an expectation of when new content is released so that they can look forward to it from week to week.
Unfortunately, at this time, I need to say that I will not be continuing with that pattern. At least for the near future.
As of Thursday, June 25, 2026, I will not be posting reviews or other content, at least until August 6. Like many others, I have a day job that I work hard on so that I can provide for my family. However, certain aspects of it are changing, which require me to focus on that part of my life to a greater extent than before.
Moreover, I’ve been trying to improve the design of the site over the last couple of months. While this has been largely successful, certain aspects are still not complete. As such, I’ve decided to also work on other parts of the site over the course of July in lieu of publishing new posts.
I know that this may be disappointing. Especially since I’ll be gone more than just a week or two. I can understand that sentiment. I look forward to new posts and progressing through the history of gaming as much as some of my readers.
Yet, I’m hoping that concentrating on the site’s back end for a time will help CheapRetroGaming.com more in the long term. A part of the reason I am doing this is to help it be easier for search engines to find the site. Perhaps new readers will come through such optimizations.
Speaking of new, last week I updated my guide on the Arcade Archives Neo Geo Selection Series for the Nintendo Switch with two additional lists of games at the bottom, and more current information on pricing and availability. That’s something that I’ve been meaning to do for weeks, but haven’t been able to accomplish until just recently. I look forward to updating my Retro Video Games on the Nintendo Switch 2 Guide in July as well.
Finally, I want to reassure my readers that I’ve really enjoyed working on this site, and I’m committed to continuing it in the future.
I take great pleasure in exploring retro titles and look forward to discussing them in the future. Some games that I’m planning on playing upon my return include Atari’s Sprint 8 and Super Bug, Nintendo’s Balloon Fight and Ice Climber, and SEGA’s Space Harrier II. I’m also still working through the Mega Cat Collection 1 on the Evercade. Other releases I want to highlight are The Lost Condor, a Walking Simulator that takes place at Machu Picchu, and Murder on the Marine Express, which I hope to be the first purely Visual Novel game that I review.
Although I could say more, I think doing so is unnecessary. Hopefully I will be able to return to regular updates in August, but in the meantime, just know that I have appreciated everyone who has contributed to the success of this site in some way. I look forward to returning to it when time allows.
Thank you!
