With today’s news, we have announcements of a couple upcoming game collections, two Resident Evil games coming to GOG, and a Battlestar Galactica title being delisted from all online storefronts.

Concerning the collections, fans of shmups and kart racers should be happy, with Raiden Fighters Remix Collection coming in February of next year and Street Racer Collection releasing later this month. Additionally, Resident Evil HD Remake and Resident Evil 0 are both now available on GOG DRM-free. Finally, Battlestar Galactica Deadlock and all its DLC is being removed from all online sites later this week.

Please see below for more details on all these announcements!

Also, if you want to check out the last couple of news posts, previously I discussed the remake of Halo 1, some updates for Turok 2, and Little Samson coming to modern systems next year! Before that, a couple of console announcements were explored with the Vectrex Mini and THEA1200.

One of the most noteworthy pieces of news is that Raiden Fighters Remix Collection has been announced, along with a release date, in a recent trailer. It includes 3 classic Raiden Fighters titles.

They are,

  • Raiden Fighters 1
  • Raiden Fighters 2
  • Raiden Fighters Jet

Unlike some other collections in the past, this has a lot of additional features and modes.

For example, there is practice mode for each title in this collection. Unfortunately, I don’t know if you can customize your loadout while playing in this mode. The reason I say this is that in a prior Raiden collection there was a practice mode, but you always started the level with your initial weapons which made some levels nearly impossible to complete.

One mode that is more interesting is the Custom Mode, which allows players to change a lot of settings in the game before playing.

Additionally, there is a World Ranking Mode, a BGM Select and Soundtrack Player Mode, the ability to turn on and off the screen filters, and change the images on the side of the screen while playing.

Probably the most important display option is that you can change the rotation of the screen to put it in TATE Mode (vertical mode), which is especially important for shmup fans.

Of course, as the name of the collection implies, there will also be remixed soundtracks for the different titles. According to the trailer, there seems to be at least three well known remixers involved with the project.

The collection is scheduled to release on February 26th, 2026 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. No price has been announced at this time.

The end of the trailer also showcases what seems to be a special edition of the game for PlayStation 5. It is a physical release that includes a soundtrack CD and three different jackets or sleeves for your game case. It appears that you can make your case show the art for any of the 3 games.

You can watch the trailer by clicking on the link below.

Now, I’d like to end this report here, but I would be remiss if I didn’t say a little more. Specifically, about Raiden Legacy – Steam Edition which came out in 2015. Although this older release has been heavily maligned over the years, the reason I bring it up is because it includes the 3 Raiden fighters titles, along with the first game, for a very good price when it goes on sale for $1.99 (which is often).

The problem with it is that it has significant input lag and the graphics seem to studder a lot. Nor does it have remixed soundtracks. So, even though it is really messed up, it may be a good way to try out the games on the cheap before buying Raiden Fighters Remix Collection in the future.

Hopefully this newer collection will run a lot better than the one from 2015!

Street Racer Collection Announced

For a totally different genre, another collection has been announced as well. This one being of Street Racer titles from the 1990’s, which are a series of kart racers that were released on multiple consoles. An aspect that makes them stand out is that you can also attack other drivers while driving around.

According to the Steam page, the games include multiple different modes such as Practice, Head-to-Head, Championship, Rumble, and Soccer.

Beyond those aspects, what’s important for us to know is that this collection contains four games in one. It has the SNES, Sega Megadrive/Genesis, MS-DOS, and Game Boy versions of the games. These include up to 27 unique tracks, eight different characters, and multiple racing options. There’s also local multiplayer for the Super NES, Genesis, and MS-DOS versions.

The collection is scheduled to come out on November 27, 2025 for a multitude of different systems. These include Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

Our last news item for the day is that Battlestar Galactica Deadlock will be delisted from all platforms, along with ability to purchase any DLC on November 15, 2025. This was a game that was released in August of 2017 on Steam and has a very positive rating. As many probably already know, it is a turn-based strategy simulation game taking place in the Battlestar Galactica universe.

While this is not exactly a retro title, it is something that I thought people might be interested in hearing about. I hope that if you want to play the game, or its DLC, you could purchase them before they leave online stores. A final sale has not been announced. If you want to purchase it, do so before it goes away!

The full official announcement reads:

“Starting November 15th, 2025, Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock and all its DLCs will no longer be available for purchase on any platform. This marks the end of an era for our space fleet, and we want to give everyone a proper heads-up to grab the game while it’s still available.

If you already own the game, don’t worry – you can continue playing it without any restrictions, exploring the galaxy, commanding your fleet, and completing missions at your own pace.

We’re incredibly grateful for all the players who have supported Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock over the years. Your passion, feedback, and dedication have helped shape the game and keep the fleet alive in the hearts of our community.

For any questions or support, please reach out to us via our official channels – we’re always happy to help.”
