Today’s news includes information on two upcoming carts for the Evercade scheduled to release in February 2026. They include a third arcade cart of Taito titles, and the other is a large collection of Turrican games from both home computers and multiple consoles!
Although, before we get to those I’d like to share that this is my last regularly scheduled Monday’s News. The last Tuesday’s Deals and Friday’s Free Games will also be this week, at least for the foreseeable future. I will share more about these changes in a future post. After this week, most posts will be game reviews.
For those who want to read a couple of my previous news reports, last week I discussed two clone N64 systems and the delisting of some Yakuza and Transformers games. Before that, there was an exploration of an upcoming collection of Last Ninja games as well.
Taito 3 and Turrican Carts Announced for Evercade
Our news for the day involves a couple of recently announced cartridges for Evercade-compatible systems. These are the Taito Arcade Collection 3 and The Turrican Collection. As stated above, these are scheduled to release in February 2026. I find both of these as pretty exciting releases, especially in the case of Turrican.
But before we get to that one, Taito Arcade 3 includes,
- Cadash
- Cameltry
- Crazy Balloon
- The Fairyland Story
- Football Champ
- Lunar Rescue
- Puzzle Bobble
- Qix
- Zoo Keeper
Meanwhile, The Turrican Collection has,
- Turrican
- Turrican II: The Final Fight
- Turrican 3
- Super Turrican
- Super Turrican Director’s Cut
- Super Turrican 2
- Super Turrican Score Attack
- Mega Turrican
- Mega Turrican Director’s Cut
- Mega Turrican Score Attack
From looking at the two lists above, both of these collections have merit. For Taito Arcade 3, I think it is pretty good. However, those not interested in the older titles such as Crazy Balloon, Lunar Rescue, and Qix may be a bit disappointed. I think a number of people will buy it just for Cadash, and Puzzle Bobble. Not only because they are probably some of the most popular games on the cart, but also because they were previously only available on the Taito Evercade Alpha. Unless you went outside of the Evercade ecosystem, of course.
Personally, The Turrican Collection is more exciting. One of the reasons being that I haven’t hardly played any Turrican games, and I know their music is great! Also, I’m glad that the collection includes a wide assortment of releases, including score attack modes for Super Turrican and Mega Turrican. Another aspect that I appreciate is that it features both the console ports, and also the home computer versions.
The reason this is so great is that on previous Evercade cartridges there have been multiple games that originated on the Commodore Amiga, but the inferior console ports were included instead. This time, The Turrican Collection has multiple versions of various games.
Finally, I’d like to point out that these 10 games are also found on the Turrican Anthology Volumes 1 and 2 for the Nintendo Switch. I say this because I am happy that people will soon be able to choose to purchase physical cartridges on Evercade, or buy them digitally in two volumes on the Nintendo Switch. Having multiple options on which to buy games is good for the larger gaming community and something I appreciate.
