Today’s Friday’s Free Games is significantly more diverse than some of the most recent weeks. While Horror is again strongly represented, twin-stick shooters and survivor roguelites also have some good representation! Plus, one of the games is a fan game for Halo!
One other neat aspect this week is that there are some usual combinations of genres at times. For example, the first game combines 2D Platformer gameplay with Shooter aspects. While the last has Psychological Horror, Bullet-hell, and Visual Novel elements melded together, somehow?
With all that said, I hope you find something to explore this week! As is the case for these Friday posts, all of the images below are from the respective game’s Steam sales page.
If you want to see what’s been available the last two weeks, here’s a Halloween-focused post with platformers and typing, and another with more horror and a couple of card-based games.
The 7th Sign Project (2D Platformer Shooter)

Now this is a really cool mix of genres! It’s a 2d action platformer with shooter elements. According to the Steam page, it has been influenced by Doom, Quake, Abuse, and Painkiller. Many of which are pure gaming classics! I hope it lives up to those, but right now it doesn’t have too many reviews, sadly.
Death in a Party – ACT I (Point & Click Horror Adventure)

Here’s the first of many horror games that I’m highlighting this week. I’m still going through releases from before the end of October, so that’s the reason. This one is distinct in that it feels more like a first-person Point & Click Adventure game similar to Shadowgate or Deja Vu on the NES. Of course, this one has much better color depth than those. It takes place at an abandoned theme park.
Dorothy’s Job (Twin-stick Shooter)

Featuring an extremely muscular maid named Dorothy, this title is a twin stick shooter where you need to clean the mansion of an evil mastermind. One thing that stood out from the trailer is its pretty cool rocking music. The game also has a sense of humor and quite funny at times with absurd names for the different weapons Dorothy uses. 100% of 56 reviews are positive!
Evil Egg (Twin-stick Shooter)

The first thing that impressed me about this is that it has tons sensory stimulation as you play. It’s an overhead twin-stick shooter that reminds me of Robotron 2084, but with a lot more crazy colors going everywhere as enemies are blown up. 100% of 186 reviews are positive!
Exploding Judo Federation (3D Fighter)

I’ve never heard of a fighting a game like this where you are doing judo against other people on a minefield! Every time you throw somebody they die. I like the personality of this one quite a bit too, it looks a bit like a PS1 title. 94% of 34 reviews are positive!
Felix The Reaper (Isometric Puzzler)

This is the first of two free sets of items from the Epic Games Store this week. I really like the jivey music from the trailer in this one!
Forbidden Terror: Board Game (Narrative Horror)

The sales page for this one doesn’t say a lot. However, the trailer has some real good sound design with some quality narration from a new reporter. You play as Jonah, an 18-year-old who plays a new board game with his friend. Terrible stuff happens after that. 96% of 57 reviews are positive!
Full Steam (Hack and Slash Runner)

This game doesn’t look like much, but I like the combination of an Endless Runner with hack and slash gameplay. You can upgrade your abilities as you play, and I thought the trailer became rather charming as I watched it more.
Gnomeball (Multiplayer Sports)

One of multiple multiplayer games this week. This one looks like football, but with a smaller play field and funny looking characters. With its graphical style and resolution, it reminds me of a Game Boy Advance game. I like the look of it and it shows off a lot of options in the trailer as well. 90% of 21 reviews are positive!
呼~/huuu (Relaxing Adventure)

For those looking for a calm narrative experience, this one might be the best one to consider. Surprisingly, you play as a breeze that guides and comforts the protagonist in an emotional journey. It doesn’t have too many reviews, but it seems to be a neat game for self-reflection.
Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms (Bundle Pack)

The second item from the Epic Games Store is the Nixie’s Champions of Renown Bundle Pack. To receive it, log into the game before 11/13/2025 at 11 am Eastern. It is supposed to be worth over $100.
Im Bann Der Dunklen Jagd (Co-op Horror Adventure)

This one may be a bit iffy, but I am including it anyway. It’s a co-op horror adventure where you play as two detectives who are exploring a house and the surrounding area. There’s a number of different hidden passageways and objects that you need to acquire before you are found by something terrible. 76% of 60 reviews are positive.
Night of the Extinct (Horror Puzzle Adventure)

I really like the premise of this game. In it, you are a content creator from 2010 who likes to put himself in risky situations for his audience. This time he is spending the night at a museum which is filled with things that come alive at night. I like the voice acting and sound design as found in the trailer. 80% of 88 reviews are positive!
Nuclear Day (Sideview Action RPG)

If there’s anything obvious about this game, it’s that it’s inspired by Fallout. But here, the game is played from the sideview perspective as an action RPG. I kind of like the art style! 73% of 26 reviews are positive.
Pal-Mon (Narrative Point & Click)

Here’s a game with a message! The premise is that you are two podcasters, with one sharing a story with the audience, and another interacting with the game. As you do things in the game world it changes the story and how the podcast progresses. The reason I want to include this one is because it explores legal aspects in the context of the gaming world. Specifically in relation to how larger companies take legal actions against smaller indie developers. One other thing that impressed me is that the developer is up front about the purpose of the game in a developer diary style of trailer. It’s really unique and I felt compelled to support the game after I saw it.
Pete’s World (Casual Arcade)

This feels a bit like an arcade title because it has a straightforward gameplay design. You are a penguin that’s walking around picking up flowers. Meanwhile, you avoid objects that want to hurt you like projectiles and rain clouds. I also appreciate that the trailer is incredibly short!!
Senior Sunset (Survival Horror)

There are 35 dead students at your High School. Parents aren’t talking about it, and there’s a police cover up. You’ve had enough and decide to go explore underground the school and find out what’s really going on in this first-person survival horror game. The sound design of the trailer is intriguing as well. 82% of 26 reviews are positive!
Skelost (Action Platformer)

This is a neat looking action platformer that is designed to run on Gameboy Color hardware. In it, you look like a cat with a gun that is going around hunting yokai. For me, the aspect that stands out the most is the soundtrack. The game has multiple positive reviews and is available for free on itch.io!
Spartan Survivors (Survivor Roguelite)

I think I’ll just say one thing about this and you’ll understand. This looks like Vampire Survivors, but you can play as Master Chief and 7 other characters! 89% of 144 reviews are positive!
Super Safe Spelunking (Roguelite Shooter)

If you want a supposedly safe overhead shooter this is the game for you! You work for an extremely “safe” mining company. All the while you destroy a bunch of enemies and keep upgrading your abilities. I like the personality and funny narration found in the trailer. 90% of 11 reviews are positive!
Welcome To The Dark Place (Horror)

It’s obvious from the trailer that the developer of this game doesn’t want you to know much about it before playing. The trailer does a great job of setting the tone for the game. There has to be something impressive about it though because 89% of 303 reviews are positive!
WitchGhost (Survivor Roguelike)

This one is another Halloween-themed game that is a survivor roguelite. I really like the art style of the game, and it seems to be pretty pleasant in the sense of it not being overwhelming. The trailer features some really nice vocal singing as well!
Ye Guild Clerk! (Immersion Sim)

Lots of fantasy games involve going on a quest and slaying monsters, but this isn’t one of them! Instead, you are a clerk at a local guild and need to give out quests, items, and the like to animal adventurers who come your way. Based on your actions, you decide who is more likely to succeed or fail in their quest! The trailer is quite funny and the art style is charming as well. 98% of 168 reviews are positive!
YogLabs: Testing Initiative (First-person Puzzle Adventure)

Those who enjoy the aesthetic of Minecraft may want to try this one out. It’s it’s a first-person puzzle adventure where you are a newly created clone that has to go through a bunch of testing. Don’t worry though! If you fall into the lava tests tell us that it kills a man instantly, so it’s not a big deal! 96% of 62 reviews are positive!
Yuki「清醒梦」 (Psychological Horror and Bullet Hell?)

With an unusual mix of genres, this is a psychological Horror game with shoot ‘em up aspects. One of the other tags for the game is also visual novel? I like the art design of the game, too. 98% of 97 reviews are positive!
