We’re back to Friday and that means more free games to explore! This week one of the big things I noticed was the significant number of games with interesting art styles found throughout this assortment of releases. Some of the best looking ones include,
- 50 Minutes ‘Til Impact
- Light of Coco
- Startron
- The Tale of Oath
Those are the ones that are featured on my YouTube channel this morning.
In addition to those, some other notable titles include Aphasie, Ball Space, Spencer’s Spaghetti Quest, and The Spike Cross. The two games from the Epic Games Store this week include Eastern Exorcist and Jorel’s Brother and The Most Important Game of the Galaxy.
Note: As is my custom, all of the images shown below are from the game’s Steam sales page.
50 Minutes ‘Til Impact (Interactive Fiction)

This is an interactive narrative adventure game where you are aboard a train that can travel through time, and is going to crash into something soon! That is, unless you can avert disaster! The art style is really nice for the different character portraits, along with voice acting for the various characters. The gameplay may not be very deep since it has linear Interactive Fiction elements. Still, I really wanted to show this off since reviewers are enthusiastic about it. One even directly praises the game’s setting! 100% of 11 reviews are positive!
Aphasie (First-person Action Adventure)

In this title you seem to be a character made up of paper that’s been folded to form different body parts. Your character even obtains different skills are related to this concept of paper. For example, you can become a paper airplane to fly around or flatten yourself down so you can crawl underneath doors. 100% of 14 reviews are positive!
Asteroidia (Top-down Shooter)

Fans of retro arcade games with a modern level up system may want to check out this title! The graphics aren’t amazing, however, I think it’s fitting considering the game design and the retro focus. It reminds me a bit of Time Pilot and Asteroids, while also having a level up system similar to Vampire Survivors. I also really like the music in the trailer!
Ball Space (3D Puzzle Platformer)

This is a 3D puzzle platform where you control a ball in low earth orbit. The game features a lot of the different areas that you traverse through. While doing so, you pick up coins and jump around pits, and so on. Surprisingly, the music is old timey sounding, like something from the 1920s with static and the like. I found it to have an impressive look to it!
Champions of The Cosmos (Real-time Strategy)

I’m adding this game mainly because of its ambition in the trailer. In it, there is a woman who is explaining the setting for the game. It reminds me of old school real-time strategy titles from the late 1990’s, but with polygonal graphics. According to one of the reviews you really need to go through the tutorial to be able to understand how to complete objectives and play the game. The game also has multiple characters to choose from.
DASH: Danger Action Speed Heroes

Do you want to set world records in a precision platformer? This title is set up so that you can create new levels, put them online, and then other players can compete against each other to set new world records! It seems to be a lot of fun for those who like that style gameplay. 100% of 22 reviews are positive!
Eastern Exorcist (Side scrolling Action RPG)

The first of two free games from the Epic Games Store is a side scrolling action RPG with Asian aesthetics! It looks really cool from what is shown in the trailer.
空王座 Empty Throne (Puzzle Adventure)

Those who enjoy fairy tales, especially Snow White, may want to explore this title. it’s a puzzle game with adventure elements and takes the well-known Snow White story and turns it into a dark fantasy title! I really like the animations and it has some interesting pixel art. 91% of 24 reviews are positive!
Hurricane Heroes (Narrative Simulation)

I always like it whenever a game tries to help educate players, or to help them understand the world around them. This is a interactive narrative game that is played from three different perspectives as you prepare for a storm that is on its way to hit the coast of Florida. Much of it is narrated with voice actors. I think the tone of the game is helpful and I really wanted to highlight it!
Into the Evernight (Retro-style Tactical RPG)

Despite this game’s graphics not being amazing, it’s clear that the developer has put out a lot of effort to try and make a quality title. The trailer for it shows a lot of different skills that can be used by the various characters. Along with some nice sound effects and some pretty good portraits. it doesn’t have a lot of reviews but I think it looks quite good!
Jorel’s Brother and The Most Important Game of the Galaxy (Point and Click Adventure)

The second Epic game for the week is this point and click adventure title. it doesn’t seem to take itself too seriously and is based on a Brazilian animation.
Light of Coco (Puzzle Platformer)

This is a magical looking game! in it, you play as a feline character who has wings and you explore the world in this puzzle platformer. The lighting effects are wonderful and I really like the look of everything. A special experience!
Mantle (Narrative Turn-based Strategy)

Upon first looking at the trailer for this title it makes me think that it is a turn-based strategy game, yet it’s actually more of a story-focused release. The pixel art is really nice and it has close to 10 positive reviews!
Myrkwood: Offshoot (Overhead Action)

When I watched the trailer I couldn’t help but feel that this was a charming game! It’s in overhead action title where you run around and attack enemies while they try and destroy your gem that is in the middle of the playfield. It also has multiplayer elements so that multiple people can play together. Although it doesn’t fit with the graphical style of the game, I was pleased to hear classical music playing in the trailer, too!
Roving Rovers – Australian Rover Challenge 2025 (Simulation)

Have you ever wanted to explore the moon? This title lets you do that with a lunar rover. You can can build a moon base and explore accurate areas of the lunar surface.
SailFront (Sailboat Racing)

I’ve never been interested in sailboat racing, but in this title you control a sailboat and can create different courses to race on with other players. The trailer does a great job showing various game modes and how the course creation system works. I also appreciate that the developer is trying to do some realistic wind modeling in the game. Kinda neat!
Spencer’s Spaghetti Quest (FPS)

Yeah, this game totally won me over once I saw the trailer! It’s a first person shooter where your character needs to get ingredients to prepare some spaghetti. The art style is frankly a bit absurd, with it being a first person 3D title but with a lot of the characters being 2D sprites. What charmed me about it is that the sound effects are made by someone’s voice. So the sound of explosions is someone making “swoosh” sounds and things like that. I couldn’t help but share it with you all!
The Spike Cross (Sports)

The description for this game says that the developer is a big fan of volleyball, and he’s made a title with flashy special attacks, anime characters, and a strong emphasis on story. It’s relatively popular, with 79% of 236 reviews being positive! One of the most common negative marks against it is that it has poor optimization.
SpikerMan Game (JRPG)

Although this looks like a RPG Maker game, there’s ton of character in it with color graphics, jokey dialog, and a real-time battle system. I appreciate that the trailer shows a lot of different aspects to the game!
Startron (Space Exploration Sim)

Here’s another game that is really big on ambition! The graphics are in an ASCII or PICO-8 style. They are designed to look like an ASCII game, which is rather incredible considering that this is a galaxy exploration game with first-person sections. Funny enough, you have a crew of cats or dogs in your spaceship was you explore space. I expect the gameplay will be rather demanding on the player in the sense of you need to know what you’re doing to succeed. Some people should really enjoy it!
The Tale of Oath (Third-person Action Adventure)

The first thing that stood out for me with this game is the art style! it’s a third person action adventure title developed by graduate students at Carnegie Mellon University. In the game you take on different enemies using your elemental powers while solving puzzles and defeating enemies.
THUGGING (Third-person Shooter)

One thing I like about this third-person shooter is its retro graphics style. It reminds me of PlayStation 1 titles and are shooting thugs, thieves, other nefarious characters. It takes place in an dystopian city which is fitting for the game’s style!
