Monday’s News – Rare on Evercade, Super Micros, Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone Re-Released, and Syberia Remaster!

In the world of retro gaming, there’s been a few good announcements in the last couple of weeks. Probably the biggest is that Rare is coming to Evercade! In addition to that, HyperMegaTech! has announced some new Super Micro Keychain Gamers, Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone has been re-released, and there is a new trailer for the Syberia Remaster!

A brief rundown of this post can be found on YouTube.

Rare Collection 1 Announced for Evercade

The biggest news for the week is that the first Rare Collection is coming to Evercade! This is really exciting for a number of reasons. The first is that doing so is a celebration of Rare’s 40th Anniversary! The company was previously known as Ultimate Play the Game (Wikipedia). Second, this is the first cartridge that includes games from the ZX Spectrum family of computers. Finally, it has a broad range of games, with computer, console, portable, and arcade releases all represented!

The games on the cart will be,

  • Atic Atac
  • Gunfright
  • Jetpac
  • Knight Lore
  • Lunar Jetman
  • Sabre Wulf
  • Underwurlde
  • Battletoads
  • Battletoads Arcade
  • Cobra Triangle
  • R.C. Pro-Am
  • Conker’s Pocket Tales

Just at a glance, many of these are quality titles on their respective systems. Many of which I’d like to play again, or for the first time! I think the cart is one of the best to be released this year. The only slight downer about it is that nearly all of the games were released on the Rare Replay for the Xbox One ten years ago (Wikipedia). The only game that isn’t also on that prior collection is Conker’s Pocket Tales.

If you’d like to know more about the Rare Collection 1 for Evercade, please see their page for it, or check out the trailer on YouTube. Preorders for Rare Collection 1 open on September 30, 2025. The cart will release in November 2025.

On a different note, there should still be two more carts for Blaze to announce prior to them closing out the year. I expect that they will share them at the end of September or early October.

Super Micro Keychain Gamers Announced by HyperMegaTech!

On another note, HyperMegaTech! also announced a new product line recently. They are little mini game systems that are called Super Micro Keychain Gamers, which are intended for casual game players and to be given away as stocking stuffers.

Unlike HyperMegaTech!’s Super Pockets, these do not play any Evercade cartridges. In the United States, the retail price for them is $29.99 and most of them include 3 titles. All of them require 3 AAA batteries to run (not included) and have 2” TFT screens that have pixel resolutions of 240×520.

The four different versions of the Super Micro Keychain Gamer are,

For your convenience, I’ve linked to each of HyperMegaTech!’s pages for them in the list above. To me, the Space Invaders is a clear ripoff, with only having one game on it.

For the others, the games are:

  • Asteroids Edition – Asteroids, Gravitar, and Yars’ Revenge
  • Centipede Edition – Centipede, Millipede, and Crystal Castles
  • Burger Time Edition – Burger Time, Karate Champ, and Side Pocket

Among the four announced, to me, only the Asteroids and Burger Time editions are worth considering. Your mileage may vary, though. I am not excited about them and they just feel like a cash grab. In the USA, it is too much money for too little.

Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone on Steam

Dungeons & Dragons and Action RPG fans may be glad to hear that Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone was recently re-released on Steam in the middle of August. As shared in the game’s re-release changelog, this is not a remaster. Instead, it is more of a re-release with compatibility and quality-of-life improvements.

Some of these include,

  • Fixing multiple slowdowns in the game
  • Fixing the broken in-game clock
  • Graphics now scale correctly to any aspect ratio
  • Added support for Xinput controllers
  • Controller vibrations added
  • Sound and music volume control
  • New PC settings menu

For full details, please see this page. The regular price for the game is $9.99, although as of this writing it is $8.99. The Steam sales page can be found here.

From looking at the reviews, the biggest problem I noticed was that multiple people are complaining that the game crashes after just a few minutes. One reviewer said that changing the game to run in Fullscreen mode and at 1080p fixed the issue.

Syberia – Remastered Announced

A new trailer for the upcoming Syberia – Remastered was recently released on YouTube. It is a Before and After trailer showing how some of the areas in the original game appeared, along with new 3D perspectives of the same locations. You can find the video here.

The remaster is supposed to release on November 6, 2025. Thankfully, it is scheduled to be available on multiple platforms including Steam, PS5, and Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

As of yet, I haven’t seen a preorder price for the game.
