The big news for today is that Atari 50 has another update, with Atari having obtained the rights for ports of Namco games that were on their hardware. These will reappear on Atari 50 with about half a dozen games coming to it as paid DLC. As of yet, the price and release date have not been announced. However, the games that will be included have been.

The ones released in the home are,

  • PAC-MAN (2600, 5200, 8-bit Computer)
  • Dig Dug
  • Galaxian
  • Galaga
  • Xevious

While USA arcade versions of Dig Dug and Xevious are also included.

These latter games are relevant to the release since they were originally released by Atari in the States. Of course, this content will include a new interactive timeline along with video interviews, archival materials, documents, and photos.

I think this is a really exciting announcement since Atari 50 is one of the best titles for exploring gaming history. For more details on the release, please see this link to Steam. You may also want to check out the Announcement Trailer on YouTube. As is shown there, the DLC is also coming to Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PS4/5.

I would be super pumped if the next announcement is Activision Atari 2600 games. Just saying.
