Today marks our 20th Friday’s Free Games! This week features a wide assortment of different titles, with Sid Meier’s Civilization VI being the headliner game from the Epic Games Store! Like other weeks, this one also has a wide assortment of different game genres represented. Some include mech action, first-person horror, point & click adventure, walking simulators, platformers, JRPGs, and a lot more!
Note: All of the game images shown below are from their respective Steam sales pages. Thank you!
Accordion Solitaire (Card Game)

This is a pretty relaxed game of solitaire that has a number of different options, including one where you can play with all 52 cards being shown at once. This is kind of neat so you can plan all your moves in advance. The trailer has chill music and it seems like it is a nice game for card fans and casual players.
Analog – Skin Off (First-person Horror)

After coming to your uncle’s house, you need to do some chores before your friends arrive the next day. You play as a teenager, and people really like this one! 91% of 59 reviews are positive!
Dilemma: The Game (Point & Click Adventure)

Visually speaking, this is probably one of the most uniquely looking games of the week. It is a point and click adventure game where you solve nonsensical questions. It also has a really distinctive black and white aesthetic that looks like etchings on a black sheet of paper. The reviews say that it is really funny and it can be beaten in about 20 minutes. It looks real fun and interesting!
DOGWALK (Walking Simulator)

A sweet looking walking simulator game where you play as a dog walking in the snow with a boy behind you. The environment is cold, but it seems to melt the heart of players! It has one of the highest ratings I have seen on Steam thus far. It is Overwhelmingly Positive with 98% of 690+ reviews rating it as positive!
Echoes of Time (Overhead Narrative Adventure)

A narrative adventure game that features multiple endings and branching storylines while also using a RPG Maker engine. I am curious about this title. Sadly, the trailer and the page description doesn’t say that much about the game. I want to support it though, and so I am featuring it here.
Flowtris (Falling Blocks)

Tetris has been done a lot of different ways, and this one seems pretty similar to a regular game of Tetris. Yet, it also features optional mission objectives as you play. Such as completing three doubles over the course of the game and things like that. It seems like a good game of Tetris, so if you want to try another version, here you go!
Kana no Mado (Language Learning)

This is an educational language learning game that helps you to learn how to read and identify Japanese Hiragana and Katakana (two basic writing systems for Japanese). It is a free version of a fuller game, with some parts being paid DLC. It may not be something that people with zero knowledge of Japanese could use, but some readers may want to dabble in it. I thought that the art style was really cute and sweet, and I liked the music from the trailer as well!
Kasama: The Awakening (Interactive Fiction)

With this being a really cute cinematic interactive fiction game that has a really impressive look to it, I wanted to make sure to mention it here! Some say this is the first chapter of a larger game, and is a bit short. Yet, it is also 93% positive across 15 reviews!
Lone Planet (Space Exploration Puzzle)

For this week, this game has one of the more unique art styles that I have found! It is a sci-fi cosmic adventure with exploration elements. According to the sales page, it also contains puzzle and platformer elements, too. The trailer seems intriguing, especially if you like the idea of minimalist exploration games
Mech Merc Company (First-person Mech Simulation)

I think this game has the longest trailer of any for the week, it is over four minutes long! Clearly, the developer is dedicated to making something like old-school MechWarrior titles. In this one, you can buy and sell mechs, fight in combat with fellow pilots, and it’s all made by a solo developer! It is 78% positive with over 100 reviews!
Mycroft Holmes Simulator (Comedic Point & Click Adventure)

Here’s a comedic point and click adventure game that seems to make fun of Sherlock Holmes. You play as his more intelligent older brother in this short game. In it, you have some objectives to do such as talk to people and hang out at your house. I thought people who like a bit of comedy may enjoy this, especially those who are fans of Sherlock Holmes
Nelli The Seer (3D Platformer)

As a 3D platormer with bright visuals and distinctive art design, this game seems to be getting quite popular! It also has puzzle solving elements and reminds me of cultures in South America. 96% of 27 reviews are positive!
NYIP (Demo) (Action RPG)

This is an Action RPG that takes place in a setting that I’ve never seen before: Medieval Serbia! From seeing the trailer, one thing that struck me was the lighting in the game; It is really dark, intriguing, and different than I’ve seen in lots of other games. Also, the sound of the trailer is really unique, with repetitive yelling or something like that which makes it stand out!
Off Road Racing

At first glance, this reminds me of a simpler Outrun, but you are driving through deserts and other locales. It has some unusual animations for the vehicle as you’re driving and it looks like it is trying to imitate super scaler games of the past. I kind of like the look of it and I hope people enjoy it.
One/Iro (Horror Puzzle Adventure)

This is a first-person puzzle adventure game with horror elements. As I was watching the trailer there was a repetitive sound, which could be irritating. Still, it helped me to want to keep on watching to see what would happen next. I liked the use of lighting in the trailer and I thought some who play this genre may be interested in it.
Pascals Requiem (JRPG)

I really want to show this off because of the art style. It is a JRPG that looks like an 8-bit game, but with 3D aesthetics. Also unique is the highly interactive battle system that reminds me of something like the Super Mario RPG series where you have to press buttons in time with the actions that you see on screen. It is 90% positive with 10 reviews!
Paths of the Visionaries (JRPG)

As a love letter to classic old-school JRPGs, this looks like a SNES game that takes place in the 1990’s. In fact, it reminds me of Earthbound or Mother in some ways. However, I do not know if it has the craziness of those games games. Anyway, it only has one foreign-language review right now, but I think it looks really intriguing!
Project:M (Horror)

This is a dark first-person horror game and there unfortunately isn’t a lot said about it in the sales page, the description just says it’s an indie horror game. However, I like the music in the trailer and I hope people give it a chance. Most of the reviews I saw for it were positive.
Radial Overdrive (Racing Roguelite)

How a racing game could be a roguelite, I’m not sure! But this is an endless racing or driving game with a neat neon aesthetic. When you complete a section, you can choose an upgrade for your hovercraft. I like the style of the game!
Santa Elena (Strategy RPG)

This appears to be a turn-based RPG that has a really distinctive art style. After looking at the reviews, people really liked the artwork and enjoyed the storyline quite a bit! Check out the trailer to see the style of the game and determine if it’s something that you find appealing! 92% of 14 reviews are positive!
Sid Meier’s Civilization® VI: Platinum Edition (Strategy)

Nevermind! Forget what I said about longest trailer up above. This one has a 12-minute trailer for this epic strategy game in the legendary Civilization series. Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is free this week at the Epic Games Store.
Signs of Life (Point and Click Adventure)

Just to be up front, be aware that this gave has a super long mature content description. Beyond that though, it is a point and click adventure game that features artwork inspired by stop-motion art and a surreal environment. It is also supposed to be non-linear and designed for those who want to have a thoughtful, atmospheric experience. I want to support that, so I have it here!
S.R.A. (Action Roguelite)

This is an overhead roguelite shooter that reminds me of ZX Spectrum games with its really low color depth for the ships (this is not a bad thing). I actually like the look a lot. It also has an electric soundtrack according to the trailer.
That One Otter Game (Local Co-op Platformer)

This is a unique game here for Friday’s Free Games in that it includes a local co-op feature! You play as two mischievous otters. I really liked the art style from the trailer, with it seeming to be cute, bright, and charming. It is 77% positive with 70 reviews!
Tiris (Isometric Twin-stick Shooter)

Our last game for the day is a twin-stick shooter starring a female protagonist who is seeking to rescue her beloved from a necromancer. It has great lighting effects and has a few atmospheric areas to play through. In addition to twin-stick action, it also has a dashing mechanic that you use throughout your adventure.
