Hi, and welcome to my site!

My name is James, and here at Cheap Retro Gaming I focus on reviewing classic retro games and recent releases that feature old-school graphics or gameplay.

Although I began my gaming journey at a young age playing the TRS-80 and the Atari 2600, I really became interested in the hobby with the NES in the 2nd half of the 1980’s, and the SEGA Genesis through the 1990’s. Much of my gaming background stems from that time period, with fond memories of the beginning of the 3D revolution as well. Some of my favorite systems from that era include the PS1 and the original Xbox.

After a long hiatus from the gaming hobby for about 20 years, I’ve returned in the last couple of years through Blaze’s Evercade line of products and regular use of several mini consoles. These include the SNES Classic Edition, SEGA Genesis Mini 2, and the PC Engine Mini.

I also have a strong appreciation for gaming history, and look forward to exploring games from many generations of consoles through compilation releases like the Atari 50 – The Anniversary Celebration, the Capcom Arcade Stadiums, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection.
