When I saw FickleFlame, I knew the art design was a big reason for me to check it out. I have a nostalgic soft spot for games with the black and white aesthetics of old Game Boy titles and I’m a fan of 2D platformers.

The pack-in game for a console set the tone for the system and showcased what it offered over the competition. For the Sega Genesis, bringing the arcade experience home was a big deal. Having Altered Beast as the pack-in game at launch was a key part of that message.
