Friday’s Free Games! Halloween Is Soon, So Horror Is Here! Along With a Couple of Card-Based Games!

Unsurprisingly, this week’s Friday’s Free Games has a lot of horror titles available! However, a couple of other standout games have card-based elements along with a release that helps you learn a little Japanese!

Note: All of the images below are from the respective game’s Steam sales page.

Bip and Bop (Co-op 3D Platformer)

Bip and Bop

If there’s anything that this game’s trailer has told me, it’s that Bip and Bop is a difficult co-op 3D Platformer! You play as two little robots that can connect together and solve puzzles. I like the concept, even if it is difficult. 80% of 36 reviews are positive!

(BURIED TAPES) The Parking (Horror)

The second in the series of Buried Tapes first-person horror games. Not my jam, but I like the art style! 72% of 40 reviews are positive.

Cosmic Cargo (Top-down shooter)

Cosmic Cargo

Those who enjoy the creative aspect of designing a spacecraft and blowing away enemies may want to consider this game. You also take cargo and sell it for a profit so you can keep rebuilding your craft and making it stronger. I like the minimalistic pixelated artwork! Another aspect that I was intrigued by was how the bullet patterns were different than in most shooters I see. It made me curious about it!

Delivery to Graveyard Manor (Point & Click Adventure)

Delivery to Graveyard Manor

As one would expect, here’s another Halloween-themed game. This one is a mix of point and click adventure and hidden object. You’re a skeleton who is supposed to collect disguises to look like people you see in the portraits. You need to gather enough of the deliveries before time runs out!

Eldritch Archives (Horror)

Eldritch Archives

Those who want a bit of pixel artwork similar to Minecraft in their first-person horror titles may want to try this one out. The art style is interesting, but I found the trailer to be slightly irritating. The people react to what is happening on screen in a real excessive manner in the trailer. I just can’t believe the game is that scary based on what is being shown.

Factory Planner: First Sparks (Card-based Simulation)

Factory Planner: First Sparks

Here is a card-based game with simulation and strategy elements. It’s based on the concept of placing cards and connecting them together to achieve desired outcomes. I like that the trailer explains a lot of what you’ll be doing in the game. Many aspects of the gameplay are shown. 87% of 47 reviews are positive!

Fading Lights (Exploration Visual Novel)

Fading Lights

This title is a first-person detective game where you need to figure out about your family tree. You do this by interacting with different objects around the house. While doing so, memories come back to you. You then piece them together to figure out who you are and what your family was like.

Fear the Spotlight (Third-person Horror)

Fear the Spotlight

Epic Games Store only has one game this week, which is a third-person horror title. Next week looks to have other horror games, too!

Genesis (Horror)

Genesis

Those who enjoy survival aspects with their horror games may want to check this one. It takes place in an abandoned village where you have to find supplies and ammo for your weapons. Meanwhile, you’re being hunted by something that has killed everyone else.

The House She Haunts (Walking Simulator Horror)

The House She Haunts

This is yet another horror title, and this time there is an entity that has found its way into a little doll and haunts the house. The trailer shows a lot of small creepy things going on like chairs being moved, objects falling unexpectedly, and so on. The sales page also describes itself as a walking simulator with action and adventure elements.

Kana (Word Game/Language Learning)

Kana

As many readers know, I like supporting learning through video games. This is supposed to help you begin your Japanese learning journey by introducing a couple of the easier writing systems, Hiragana and Katakana. The trailer shows you using your mouse cursor to trace characters to learn the different strokes. It looks pretty neat!

Legacy’s Allure (Card-based Wargame)

Legacy's Allure

Here’s something that I don’t see very often! It’s a tabletop war game that uses cards. Moreover, it strives to not use a bunch of randomness in the gameplay. Although, it’s not very modest! The trailer boasts a lot of great things like, “One of the best, if not the best, war games out there.” I’m not sure if the game deserves that high of accolades, but I like the concept behind it! 100% of 23 reviews are positive!

RATMOUSE (Arcade Action)

RATMOUSE

Here’s something for fans of arcade style games. In this one you play as a rat that you control with your mouse. You go around and pick up crumbs in various areas while killing bugs. I kind of like the look of this one! It has 6 positive reviews.

Tiny Terrors (Overhead Platformer)

Tiny Terrors

This is a  cute overhead platformer where you are a little ghost character who wants to pick up candy on Halloween night. While doing so you need to avoid enemies. I like the art style in this game a good deal! For some reason a lot of reviews for this game mention achievements. That’s weird! 100% of 25 reviews are positive!
