Coming to the second week of September, we have news of a Tales of Xillia Remaster, a gameplay overview trailer for DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake, and a gameplay trailer of PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC!
Tales of Xillia Remastered Announced

The first of two RPGs to discuss today, this is Tales of Xillia Remaster, which is a modern port of the PS3 title. Because this isn’t a remake, don’t expect drastic changes from the original game, but mostly quality of life improvements.
Some changes include,
- Improved graphics
- An auto-save feature
- Toggle enemy encounters on and off
- Earlier and cheaper shop access
Note: For the last item, it isn’t referring to regular shops where you buy swords, armor, and things like that. Rather, the game has a special shop where you can permanent upgrades, such as an increase in the amount of gold you get in battle, experience gained, how much damage you do in general, and more.
One other cool thing about it is that it will include a lot of the DLC that was available for the original release. These include special costumes, items, and other fun extras. However, licensed DLC will not be in the game.
Unfortunately, I have learned that the game will be censored in some ways to line up with “modern” sensibilities. This was reported by Vara Dark – Dark Titan Media recently on YouTube. The same video mentions that the Nintendo Switch 1 version may run at a lower frame rate than the PS3 original as well.
According to the announcement trailer, the game is scheduled to release on Nintendo Switch 1, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam on October 31st, 2025. I don’t know if there will be an updated version for Nintendo Switch 2.

New Trailer for Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake

A couple of days ago, Square Enix shared a gameplay overview trailer of their upcoming DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake. Since this is a collection of two games, there are different changes between the titles.
For the first, they include,
- Battles have been expanded to include multiple monsters at once
- New areas
- New fairies
- New dwarves
- Modernized turn-based battles
- Sigils (seals or crests) have been added
On the other hand, Dragon Quest II has,
- A fourth new character in the party
- New villages
Both games also have the following changes,
- Can play with English or Japanese voice acting
- Spells and abilities learned by scrolls (not leveling up)
- Map markers
- Mini-map
- Auto-saves
- Battle speed can be increased on the fly
- Auto battling is an option
- Orchestra soundtrack performed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Orchestra
Frankly, I think this release looks amazing, and I’m really excited about it. I particularly like that the soundtrack is orchestrated, which should be great! The only change that I’m not particularly excited about is that spells and abilities are learned by scrolls and not by leveling up. I’d like to have the option to grind for new magic if I want to crush enemies more than what the game expects in an area.
The collection is scheduled to release on October 30, 2025. It will be available on Nintendo Switch 1 & 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows, and Steam. According to the official site multiple physical releases of the collection will also be available for purchase.

New Trailer for Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac

Our last bit of news is related to the 3D Platformer PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC, which is a modernized and upgraded version of PAC-MAN WORLD 2.
Last week a gameplay trailer of the game was shared which showed a number of different aspects. It begins by sharing some of the regular moves that Pac-Man can do, along with some of the locations he goes to. After that, a number of modified or new moves are explored. One of the funniest is the Super Butt-Bounce that allows Pac-Man to bounce to higher locations. Just its name alone makes me want to laugh!
Some levels also have additional vehicles you can use, such as the Pac-Marine. It has torpedoes and lasers to attack enemies. One neat addition is the Fairy Mode, which is an assist mode that makes more blocks in the levels if you keep dying in some sections.
For retro fans, the game also has an arcade through which you can play classic titles and listen to music at the jukebox. More details about the game can be found at the aforementioned trailer. I’ve linked it here.
The game is scheduled for release near the end of this month, on September 26, 2025. It will be available on Nintendo Switch 1 & 2, PS4/5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
