Friday’s Free Games! Jungle Game Lab Games Are Front and Center This Week!

Well, there isn’t a huge number of titles for this week. I frankly ran out of time to prepare a full post. Still, I’ve put together a small list of popular releases to explore. Many of which are from Jungle Game Lab. You may want to check them out directly on Steam to see what they’ve published. This is just a small sampling of their recent releases.

As usual, all of the images below come from the respective game’s Steam page.

I plan on having more games to showcase next week. I’ve been working on a big post for a while, and I hope it comes out some time this month! That’s a big reason why this post is a lot smaller than normal. I think I’ll be worth it though!

Articrow

Articrow

The first of a few action roguelike games that I’m showing off this week! Here you are a crow who is exploring dungeons and collecting artifacts. During the game you can equip different items and upgrade your abilities. I liked the music in trailer quite a bit! 100% of 21 reviews are positive!

The DeadLine

The DeadLine

One of the neatest games of the week is this FPS where the world is overrun with zombies and you need to take the subway to get home! An aspect that I really like is that the game seems to fleshed out pretty well, with weapon upgrades and multiple ways to play, including an endless mode. 98% of 83 reviews are positive!

Deckstination

Deckstination

This is a really cool action roguelike that combines real-time combat with deck-building elements. From watching the trailer I like the character design quite a bit, but there’s one other thing I really want to highlight. That being that the trailer does a great job of pointing out gameplay features a lot. Seeing that aspect gives me hope that the game is really engaging to play. It seems pretty cool! 97% of 36 reviews are positive!

Keylocker | Turn Based Cyberpunk Action

Keylocker | Turn Based Cyberpunk Action

In a world where music is outlawed, you play your music, and are to be killed for your crime. On one hand, I am not entirely blown away by the art style of this game, but I still think it looks pretty cool! It’s free this week on the Epic Games Store!

Maru Expedition: We can fly

Maru Expedition: We can fly

Another of two action roguelike titles featured here this week! Like other games mentioned below, this one looks like a certain genre, but plays like a different one. It appears to be a shooter, but really what you are doing is controlling a flying platform where you catch people and then they automatically attack enemies nearby. I think it is more of an action roguelite than a shmup. I really enjoy the art style for this! 98% of 82 reviews are positive!

Oil Sheik

Oil Sheik

I have to say, this one has a really unusual combination of gameplay styles. It is a simulation and puzzle game that has elements of chess and stock trading. While the latter is rather surprising, at least it makes sense with the game’s name taken into consideration. According to the game’s tags it is like a tabletop turn-based strategy game. 89% of 19 reviews are positive!

Patch me if you can

Patch me if you can

While this looks like an overhead Action RPG, it’s actually a Puzzle Adventure game where you manipulate the environment to solve puzzles. Some of the things you can do is equip a block to shrink a boulder and move the sun so its light shines on something in the area. The game takes about 30 minutes to beat, and 100% of 72 reviews are positive!

Pilgrims

Pilgrims

If you want something charming, this is a little adventure game from the same team that produced Samorost, which I’ve reviewed here. It seems like what you do in this one is go around the area and help people with their little problems using the items you acquire along the way. A lot of the story is shared with you visually without using dialog. It’s free for this week on the Epic Games Store!

StacKit

StacKit

Another game that is not what it initially appears to be. StacKit looks like a FPS, but it’s actually a strategy game where you load your gun with specific types of attacks before going into a turn-based battle. The graphics look quite good, and 100% of 22 reviews are positive!

Stellar Witch

Stellar Witch

Although it’s not entirely clear from the trailer exactly what is happening in this game, I do know that it is an inventory management title with a focus on placing constellations and in certain ways to take advantage of their attributes. From the look of the trailer, you seem to move around on your constellations as the enemy tries to attack you. Dodge enough, and you will win the battle! 100% of 57 reviews are positive!
