This week we have multiple strategy games from Slitherine, and also Figment 2 and Sky Racket! Beyond those, there’s a number of different genres represented including horror-themed titles, puzzle adventures, overhead shooters, runners, click and finds, and more! Check out the games below to see if you want to play any of them this weekend!
As is per usual, all of the images below are from the game’s respectively Steam sales pages. Thanks for reading!
44 Hidden Naomis (Click and Find)

Since I am sharing a click and find title as the next game, I wanted to also highlight this one that is more anime inspired. You basically move your cursor around and try to find the hidden Naomi’s who are in the scenes. I thought if you like anime artwork, this one may be a fun diversion. However, this seems more fast paced than the next title, with it ranking you on finding all the Naomi’s in a picture and doing so quickly and accurately.
100 Cats Lost In Japan Find & Color (Click and Find)

I have not featured a click and find cats game in quite some time, but this one is quite popular, so I thought I’d bring the genre back for this week. It also features a color by numbers mode as well. It has calm music and seems to be a nice casual game. 86% percent of its 50+ reviews are positive!
ALASKA – An Endless Night (Exploration)

As a third-person investigation and exploration game taking place in the wilderness of Alaska, the graphics look really good! It seems to have an interesting premise where you are a bounty hunter who is going after someone accused in the death of a brother. Adventure fans may want to check it out. Some say it uses the AZERTY keyboard layout, though. Hopefully that will be fixed later!
Battlestar Galactica Deadlock (Strategy)

This is the base game of the 3D tactical strategy game taking place during the First Cylon War in the Battlestar Galactica universe. In this title, it seems you plan your moves for all your units at once, then they are executed at the same time for both sides. I’ve wanted to play this for a while, so I am glad to see it here! It is 86% positive with over 2,400 reviews!
Bloodquest From HELL (Puzzle Adventure)

At first glance, I assumed this was a bloody first person action title. Yet, it’s actually a puzzle adventure game where you are a fry cook that goes through a portal to keep her job. People say that the art style is really good and I think the developers have quite a bit of talent! One odd thing (for me) is that narration begins immediately at the start of the trailer. I kinda want to see gameplay quicker. Don’t let that dissuade you though. I hope people like it!
Caribbean Crashers (Like Angry Birds)

Admittedly, this seems shorter than it should be. For fans of Angry Birds and pirates, it may be worth trying out! It is said to be a strategy game, but it seems to be somewhat like Worms to me. I do like the pixel art some, and that the developer is responding to constructive feedback in the reviews, so that’s great. New levels and challenges should be added soon!
Cartoon Survivor (Isometric Runner)

An isometric runner game where you play as an animal who’s trying to survive with a bomb or fireworks on its back. I really like the art style of the trailer. It reminds me of Viewpoint on the Neo Geo (Wikipedia) with the perspective. I think this is a mobile game port, but it looks fun!
The Donut Gallery (Walking Simulator)

I never thought I would showcase a title that has you go through an art gallery of 3D renders of doughnuts! But here we are… it also has student renders of fencing items as well. It seems like a nice little walking simulator! I hope the students learned a lot from preparing such models!
Echoveil : The Last Guest (First-person Horror)

A first-person horror adventure game taking place at a motel. I really like the realistic graphics and the atmosphere of the trailer! Unfortunately, it has some glitchy aspects to it, but the developer has learned a lot from making the title and is working on another. I wish the person success with this and future games!
Fantasy General II (Turn-based Strategy)

This sequel to an older turn-based strategy game is free on Steam until the middle of next week (base game only)! It is rated as Very Positive on Steam, and is one of many strategy games available for free right now! 81% of over 900 reviews are positive!
Field of Glory II: Medieval (Turn-based Strategy)

Yet another free strategy game, this one taking place in the 11th through 13th centuries. Like the others, it is the base game only, and this one seems to play more like a table-top board game. Add it to your library if you want! 81% of 200+ reviews are positive!
Figment 2: Creed Valley (Action Puzzle)

The first game in this series was given away for free a short time ago, and now the sequel is as well! It is another action puzzle game, and looks to be very popular, just like the first! I did notice a bit more detailed shading on colors compared to the first game. This is a welcome addition to this week’s lineup. It is the first of two games free at the Epic Games Store this week.
Fishing Friends 3D (Fishing)

This is a nice looking fishing game with a chill soundtrack that I liked quite a bit! It does say that you can chat in-game with other anglers, which is cool. I liked the tone of the trailer and also saw that a number of the reviews were positive, with some significant playtime! That’s a good sign!
Hold Me Still (Puzzle Adventure)

I’m sharing this game because I think it has an important message. It’s a first person point and click puzzle game that is focused on depression and suicide. The gameplay involves exploring your friend’s house and solving puzzles. I like the pixel artwork quite a bit, and apparently it is a student project. Sadly, even though there is an English language option, it stops working shortly after starting the game. You will probably need to play this with a translator app. I want to support this work because of the message, the pixel art, and since it is a student project.
Masquerade (Puzzle Adventure)

In this puzzle adventure title, you play as Romeo and your beloved Juliet has been turned into a puppet! Your goal is to finish the play that is being performed in this cruel theater, and if you do, Juliet will be saved. The visuals and sound design of the game seem really good quality, along with the narration. It piques my interest, and as of now, 95% of its 23 reviews are positive!
a pig game: A Pee Wee Premiere (3D Platformer)

As far as cute little porcelain and pigs with toothpicks are concerned, this game is a real winner! It’s a 3D platformer with collectathon elements where you go around the kitchen trying to pick up toothpicks and other items, while also solving puzzles and talking to NPCs. I really liked the look of this title, and I especially noticed the lightning effects that are used throughout. 86% of 15 reviews are positive. However, be aware that it does use AI-generated assets.
Simple Zombie Survival (FPS)

Face waves of zombies in this old school style, first-person arena shooter. I like the old-school graphics in it, and also the fact that it has been made by a solo developer, which is really impressive! I think it has a bit of personality, too. There is classical music playing in the trailer, which I think is funny! By the way, the maps are hand made. I hope it’s good!
Sky Racket (Shmup and Brick Breaker)

With a genre-bending combination of shmup and brick breaking, here’s a cute side-scrolling game where you cannot attack enemies directly, but instead have to knock their attacks back at them using a racket. I really like the art style shown in the trailers, and looking forward to playing it! From exploring the game images, I noticed that it even has a section inspired by PONG, which I reviewed literally yesterday! It is the second free game on the Epic Games Store this week.
Space Ace (Overhead Shooter)

As an overhead shooter that is focused on fighting different bosses and upgrading your ships, I quickly became interested in it upon seeing the trailer. I really like that the developer has put a lot of thought into different options such as difficulty settings and the types of ships you can use. I hope it gets more fans!
SurfsUp (First-person Runner)

Here is one of my rare multiplayer-focused titles on Friday’s Free Games! It’s a first-person precision platformer runner game. It seems that the developer has tried hard to put a lot of features into this game such as built-in voice chat, dozens of handcrafted stages, and more! It seems to be a well-rounded experience for players. Plus, 94% of its 103 reviews are positive!
Zombie Murder 3 (Overhead Shooter)

This is a top-down shooter where you control a mech and kill a bunch of zombies. As one would expect, it’s quite bloody, and also has a heavy metal soundtrack. I like that it knows what it is, and is not ashamed to follow through with it! It reminds me of games like Smash TV, and if you want to have some fun killing zombie, go ahead and try it!
