The California Fire Relief Bundle on itch.io Is an Incredible Deal!

The wildfires in Southern California have been incredibly destructive to property and people. Many have wondered, “What can I do to help?” One of the easiest ways is by purchasing the California Fire Relief Bundle on Itch.io! It will be active up to Thursday, March 13, and gets you over 400 items with a minimum donation of $10!

All funds, minus fees, will be given to CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort) in Los Angeles, California. They are supporting communities in the area and responding to the fires as appropriate. In conjunction with CORE and Itch.io, this bundle features the work of over 300 creators, totaling 422 items for a minimum donation amount of $10. The combined value of these works is $8,182, and as of this writing, over $234,000 has been raised.

In regard to the video games, there are over 180 that are included! Some of the noteworthy titles are,

Note: I’m only linking to Steam in the list above for simplicity’s sake. No Steam keys are given in this bundle!

Beyond those, there are tons of other games that I’m not really interested in (but you may be). You can check out this link to see the complete list of items. Outside of the video games, the bundle also contains,

  • Card games you can print off (including Bugsnax: The Card Game),
  • Table-top RPGs,
  • Game assets,
  • Some short books,
  • And even a few comics!

The diversity is incredible, and it’s especially exciting for people who have a wide range of interests.

To see more of what other people are saying about it, check out this Reddit post. It includes a longer list of games that are positively rated on Steam, and various redditors’ reactions to it.

My recommendations for this bundle are pretty simple:

  1. If you want to play Tunic, just buy it! The lowest price it has been on Steam is $14.99. You get Tunic, plus everything else!
  2. If you’re curious about 3-5 of the other games, I’d pick it up. It’ll give you a ton to explore!
  3. Finally, you can purchase it to help those affected by the wildfires. This is honestly the best reason to buy!

Closing Thoughts

For those who purchase the bundle, I have a few other bits of advice:

  • Spend some time going through the game list on itch.io and making sure to ignore the ones that are also on Steam. That way you don’t accidentally buy the game a 2nd time.
  • If you’d like to play these games through the Steam client, you can add them as a non-Steam game. You still won’t get achievements, though.
  • You may want to use a game launcher like LaunchBox to have all your titles accessible in one place.
  • On Itch.io, buying the bundle adds all the items to your library, but they are hidden by default. The game becomes visible in your library after you download it. This is so you don’t flood your library with hundreds of items at once. You can always access your purchased bundles through your account dashboard.

Needless to say, I’ll be picking this bundle up later today! If you want to donate to it, it is available here.

What do you think about it? Are there any games or items you’re particularly excited to see? Let me know in the comments below!
