Indie Heroes 4 Announced for Release on Evercade in February 2025

Blaze Has Announced Their 4th Collection of Indie Heroes Games Coming In February!

Blaze continues their tradition of releasing Indie Heroes collections in February each year with their recent announcement of the fourth cartridge in the series. These are usually quite popular with Evercade users. However, the reaction to this one seems different than usual. Is the interest still there?

The reason I ask is because this is the first cartridge announced after the company said that the regular retail prices of all future and current carts will go up by $5 at the end of the month. That isn’t sitting well with some customers, as is indicated by a significant number of comments for the recent trailer. This is further exacerbated by the fact that this cartridge has “only” 11 games on it; the fewest number of any Indie Heroes title.

In contrast to this amount,

  • Indie Heroes 1 had 14 games,
  • Indie Heroes 2 had 12 games, and
  • Indie Heroes 3 had 13.

Despite the lower number of games and the higher price, I’m still excited about this release (one of the big reasons I wanted an Evercade was for the Indie Heroes titles). The games included will be,

  • Batty Zabella
  • Block’Em Sock’Em
  • Block Droppin’
  • Collie Defense
  • The Curse of Illmoore Bay
  • Flea!2
  • Jane Austen’s 8-bit Adventure
  • Murtop
  • Nyghtmare: The Ninth King
  • Soko Banana
  • Starseed

Like other Indie Heroes carts, this collection is made-up of a variety of different genres, such as puzzle games, platformers, and the like. I’m quite interested in about half of the games listed. Some include Collie Defense, Jane Austen’s 8-bit Adventure, and Nyghtmare.

My reasons include being a big fan of side scrolling action titles such as Castlevania, enjoying 19th Century literature, and having a good time with Kingdom Rush last year. According to the comments for the video, the clear favorite for Indie Heroes 4 is Murtop, the game about a bomb-pooping rabbit that plays like a mix of Dig Dug and Bomberman.

I can’t say I will disagree with that; Murti would probably blow me up if I did anyway!
